Sharon (S.E.) Spinks
After graduating from Texas A&M University with a B.S. Degree in Animal Science, Spinks combined her writing skills and agricultural education into a career in agricultural journalism. She composed press releases, promotional materials, and short articles for the Palomino Horse Breeders of America, The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association – Pro Rodeo Sports News, and a national rodeo production company. Spinks returned to school to obtain her teaching certification and Graduate Academic Certificate in Gifted Education. For eight years, Spinks worked as a Science teacher and Coordinator of the Gifted and Talented Program in a small west Texas school district. Always an educator, Spinks views her writing as teaching to a wider audience. With press experience, and background as a presenter at state and national educational conferences and workshops, Spinks brings professionalism in representing her works on a national and regional stage.
A Native Texan, Spinks has held a lifelong fascination with Texas and Western History She is an active member of the Former Texas Rangers Association, the West Texas Historical Association, the Center for Big Bend Studies, Women Writing the West, the American Veterinary Medical History Society, and The Agricultural History Society. She lives in New Braunfels, Texas, with her husband, Andy, and sons, Kyle and Layton.
